Maternity Nurse/Mother’s Help – London, USA & Europe

Throughout your time with the couple, you will travel between London (Belgravia), the US and Europe. The client may deliver in the USA and return to London a month or so later, however, this is still to be confirmed.

The perfect maternity nurse will be patient, calm and able to ensure both parents feel in control and supported. This is not a sole charge post and will suit candidates who are well practised with parents being hands-on and fully involved every step of the way.

The client is hoping to exclusively breastfeed and would therefore benefit from applicants with specialist breastfeeding training.

Responsibilities

• Supporting and guiding both parents through the initial days and months of parenting
• Baby care – assistance with bathing, feeding, dressing and gradually establishing routines to ensure the client can recover and is rested
• Advising and supporting the breastfeeding journey
• Monitoring the baby, weighing and keeping records
• Care of the mother post-birth/surgery and assisting with dressings, advising on scar massage (if applicable in the event of c-section)
• Communicating with midwife and health visiting team as needed
• Providing advice and emotional support to parents
• Managing night feeds if and when needed to allow the client to sleep and recover
• Communicating with the housekeeper on a beneficial diet and providing shopping lists for specific items
• Being able to listen to ensure parents feel heard
• Possess the ability to work as a team to build the confidence of both parents

Key requirements

• Extensive experience as a private maternity nurse/doula
• A fully inclusive and guiding approach is essential (those with a formal approach or purely formal experience will not be considered)
• Availability pre-delivery to ensure the client is prepared and has a prepped nursey/home setup to ensure a smooth welcome home and settling-in period
• MNT qualifications
• Extensive written references
• Background check
• Valid baby first aid certificate
• Availability to cover a 3-6 month booking (6-months preferred)
