Travelling Stewardess/Butler

Competitive Salary|London, South of France, Sardinia & Switzerland|Permanent

We are recruiting an experienced Stewardess/Butler for a travelling position. The role will be based in London, with frequent travel to properties in the south of France and Switzerland. The ideal candidate will have a yacht crew background and bring the flexibility and range of skills the yacht industry demands. This client owns a yacht (Riva) with four crew which is primarily used in St Tropez with a seasonal two week trip to Sardinia. This client entertains frequently, particularly during the summer months and at the chalet in Gstaad.

This is a great opportunity to support a UHNWI in a role that offers 1-1 proximity to the Principal. Your role will see you joining a dedicated and established international team. Additional static staff members are in place in France and Switzerland while you accompany the Principal to all residences as required. Much time will be spent in St. Tropez as the client tends to entertain more in this location (both at the house and onboard the boat). Staff cottages are available close to the main house and will be available for your use. The client also entertains over the winter months in Switzerland.

A large part of this role is focused on wardrobe management, maintaining an up-to-date inventory using a dedicated app, rotating the wardrobe from season to season and organising specialist cleaning, repairs and alternations.

You will be responsible for all packing and unpacking luggage, setting up ahead of the Principal’s arrival in all locations, service, personal shopping, running errands and overseeing additional staff when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Wardrobe management
  • Packing & unpacking of luggage
  • Keeping an inventory of all new garments/accessories
  • Drinks and table service
  • Light housekeeping and personal laundry (additional housekeepers in place)
  • Travelling with the client as needed
  • Overall oversight of the penthouse in London
  • Serving onboard the boat
  • Maintaining cabins (the Principal will rarely stay onboard overnight)
  • Working with the Captain, First Mate and second Stewardess to ensure the day’s cruising goes smoothly and all hospitality requests are met

Key requirements

  • The ideal candidate will have experience working on boats and offer the flexibility and skill set the yachting industry demands. The role is also open to candidates with plenty of private household experience and wardrobe skills.
  • The flexibility to travel as needed, typically between London, France and Switzerland
  • Background check
  • STCW95
  • Checkable references
  • Ability to keep up with a busy schedule and to adapt well to an evolving environment
  • A minimum of 2+ years in yachting is preferred
  • Applicants are required to have a base in or close to London. The client spends approximately three months in London and travels the rest of the year

Start date: 2 December 2024
